--Chris 10:26, 22 October 2007 (Central Daylight Time) Mariel Voth suggests an alternate overall structure: Documentation, Services, News. In Documents, would be things like cataloging, classification systems manuals, etc. Services could be things that we or others are offering for professional development, new ideas for marketing the library, etc. News would include information about association meetings, important events, etc.

--Ann 22 October 2007 I see Mariel's comment above, but just speaking about the structure that is up there already, I think that having a separate "Free Internet" section could be confusing, unless we are simply talking about religion sites rather than librarian sites. If we are talking about librarian-type stuff, then if I knew about a good free website about, say, cataloging, I would include it in the cataloging section. Having to send people to two different places on the wiki would be confusing and inevitably things would end up in one place or the other, or in both places (which would be a duplication of effort}.

--Bill 23 October 2007 I have added "Information Literacy" to the Librarian Handbook. In my experience with Eastern European theological librarians, information literacy is a large interest, especially now that the Internet is so readily available. There is a large number of Net-based resources to guide librarians and students in learning how to navigate today's research tools.

--Bill 24 October 2007 I agree that the freely available Internet resources section should probably disappear. We are assuming that most of what we contribute in all sections will be freely available anyway, and that reference to materials for which payment is required will indicate that requirement. For example, I would likely suggest Wink or Jing as animated tutorial creators, because both are free. If I listed Camtasia or ViewletBuilder, I would indicate that a purchase fee is required.

-- Added the Wabash Center Internet Guide and marked a fourth level heading to see if I would be blocked or have trouble. It went smoothly. --CTSSmithre 14:03, 26 June 2008 (Central Daylight Time)
